The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum, Redness-Reducing & Hydrating Solution for Skin Barrier Recovery

This is a fantastic product. It absorbs quickly and leaves my face so soft. I have really dry skin and some redness. This product does t pill under my makeup when worn alone or with other products. And it’s under $20!! I have bought serums for $100-200, and this beats them. Yea, it looks like Pepto, which is why I passed it up a few times-this is nice thin, non-sticky formula.

I've been using this for about three weeks now and have noticed a difference in my skin. This has helped my redness, and my skin feels soft and smooth. It absorbs easily and is a great value for your money.

This serum is CRAZY good. So I use tretinoin and even after months of nightly use I still get quite dry skin, especially this winter season. I thought I was moisturizing enough, but clearly not because I'd wear makeup and the dry patches were just on full display.I got this product after seeing that my skin barrier is clearly a mess and I need to fix it. Dude, within the first night of use I noticed a difference the next morning when I applied my makeup.I have been continuing to use this product 2x a day: morning and night. I do not notice any issues with pilling to be honest. I also have no experienced pink stains of any sort left over on my face and I use an entire dropper of product on my face.It doesn't really smell like much of anything. It's a bright pink color. Soaks right into the skin and spreads easily.I pair this product now with a thick cica balm at night and I think the combo works. I literally still use tretinoin in the midst of all of this and absolutely ZERO issues.Here is my full night routine: Oil/balm cleanse. Regular cleanser. Milky toner. TO Barrier Serum (wait at least 10 minutes), tret (wait at least 10-20 minutes), thick cica balm (I use avene) and let that really sit for a few minutes and soak into your skin. After I will add a lighter moisturizer of any kind or I will use an overnight mask (I use the Kiehls overnight recovery mask). This may seem excessive but I find it has been working great for my barrier, not kidding. Makeup has improved so much.For morning I lightly cleanse to get the oils and all that moisturizer off of me or I will break out. I then use that same milky toner (I use laneige). Then this serum. A moisturizer and then sunscreen and proceed with day or makeup.If it helps, I just turned 28 and my regular skin without tret is still pretty dry like normal-dry, acne prone for suuuure and with tretinoin it's sahara-level dry and still acne prone but meh. I use tret for aging reasons, not acne!I hope this helps someone!!

It worked the first time I used it, and made my red patches slightly go away but then next time I used it, it didn’t do much, but I still us it bc it’s kinda works.

Product smells is a bit strong and sensitive skin may need to start with small amount for testing. This works great to keep my skin glowing and have worked up to using the recommended amount. Pay attention to the recommendations for combining as it did make my skin more sensitive to other products. Results were worth it!

I don’t often write reviews, but this serum was the only relief I could find for my angry skin. I’m not sure what initially caused my facial skin to flare up, but I was experiencing a lot of redness, extreme dryness and skin pain/burning. After a few days of using this product, my face felt and looked so much better. I know use it a couple of times a week as maintenance and protection. Would highly recommend!!

I really want to like this stuff but holy hell does it make my rosacea flare SO bad. It took me a couple weeks to realize that was the only change I made. The flare was gradual so I just thought it was from the cold weather, etc but after not using it for a couple days my skin got better and then when I used it again my skin flared instantly. I realized it was this the only skincare change I made. I’m gentle with my skin so the only thing it could have been was the barrier repair. I am bummed because I usually really like Ordinary products but this one is not for me
