Nice Iron
This is a nice soldering iron that does the job for most of our applications. This is a well built iron that will last a long time. The temperature control would be good in a lot of situations where heat can damage components or melt plastic connectors. It heats up fast, works flawlessly.but...Some projects (like soldering enamel covered wire) we feel the tip is not hot enough, and had to resort to ordering Weller's non-temp controlled model for a lot less, which ironically solders better than this more expensive one. If you need a lot of heat, don't let the 60W fool you-- the temperature control will keep the tip from getting as hot as you want it.

It is a nice soldering iron
Bought this along with the W60P3, since they were available under 40.00 in the Amazon Warehouse deals. I'm a field techician by trade. For field service, i have an Ungar 7500, 33W since 1991. It is a nice soldering iron. However, after i have this Weller W60p, the Ungar becomes my back up one. With 60W, it has plenty of power to solder and desolder through hole components, SM component without any problem. With the right tips (easily purchased from ebay), it will not destroy the latest SM components and its circuit board (if you know how to solder/desolder). For roughly 50.00 (listed as returned. However, brand new from box????), this is a perfect soldering iron for field service. This version only comes with 2-prong cord. It's perfect for soldering old, antique Ham radio, Test equipment.

Nice soldering iron
I like this soldering iron. It is good for just general light soldering. Could use a stand and sponge.

Good iron
I have used the 40 and 60 watt Weller irons. This one is significantly better outdoors than the 40 watt model. Also, if you are operating with a modified sine wave inverter this model is preferred to the 40 watt model. If you arent sure whether 60 watts is enough, look for a 100 watt Edsyn soldering station.Note: If you will be soldering large wire, such as 14 ga and bigger, get a bigger tip (the iron can fit several tip sizes) because the OEM tip is fairly small.

Great Iron
Great soldering iron. I use this daily aboard yachts to solder audio-visual connections and the previous one I had worked for years (it blew due to an improper power source on my part). It's not an adjustable station but it's small and portable which is invaluable. Easy to clean and heats up in 30 seconds to 3 minutes depending on how well you take care of your equipment.

It's a Weller
The exact iron I just replaced after 20 years of service. Just the right mix of power and accuracy that I use for everything from a TO-92 transistor to large heat sinked power applications. Stays cool in your hand and the supplied tip is very versatile...and it's a Weller. I expect this one to last every bit as long as the last one.
