[FFP] Encanto Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 33.8 Ounce (Pack of 2)

I'm not an olive oil expert, but I've tasted about 20 in the last year or two, and know what I like. This is what I think of as a full flavored but not distracting oil. It's equal to the best shelf olive oils at better supermarkets. I don't think this is a dipping quality oil that stands on its own, however. (There are some Chilean oils that simply knock your socks off, equal to the best from Italy and Spain.) This is more about having a stock oil for general use, like a Botticelli or similar canned extra virgin, though with what I would call a balance, delicious flavor that seems to work with lots of things.

We use Italian extra-virgin olive oil (gallons per month) - so this was an adventure. Encanto is from Chile. I like to mix things up and the price was enticing. So, I ordered some Chilean olive oil. I will say the following of Encanto:-It came in two cans, which is far more convenient than one big can, to hoist and pour into a decanter! I am not sure why they divide it, but this was an immediate good impression.-The red, Southwestern-looking can is good-looking on the counter (some of us are into aesthetics, some not!)-Most importantly...the taste. Encanto is distinctive. The flavor is a bit aggressive. It is bitter on the back of the tongue. This is not at all like your an Italian EEOO. I like it very much. It actually "tastes" like Chile and not Italy - interesting. I will order more Italian extra virgin oil. I will add Encanto to my stock of oils and have the choice of Italian or Chilean EEOO.-I am proud of the Chileans and others for producing in an unproven region. Good for them! Remember when Australia first produced Syrah? Now many countries are producing great wines, globally. I am waiting for affordable truffles and white truffle oil...!Try Encanto and be pleased and also help a new marketplace. All the best to you!-If I were you, I would give Encanto a try. We found it did well with, go figure, Southwestern food (like my famous quesadillas.) I do not think it is a replacement for the best Italian EEOO. Neither is Prosecco, perhaps, but I still love a glass when the mood strikes.-Let's support these growers, producers, retailers from the SW! They will get even finer in time.

Excellent Olive Oil from Chile. The best I've had.

I'm half Italian, so olive oil is second nature. But I am not wealthy, so price matters. This is the BEST olive oil for the price I've found yet. And yeah, I'd pay more for it if I had to. It is delicious!
