As it is memory foam it forms the shape of whoever sits on it. First impression is that the cushion is firm but after sitting on it for a short while and the cushion has shaped itself around the sitter, the impression is that the cushion is soft but exceedingly comfortable and supportive. I highly recommend this cushion for driving and being a passenger. It is also useful in the home if a little bit of support and comfort is needed when sitting.

Q: I constantly have to adjust my sitting position as I feel I've slumped down will this stop this ?

I suppose it depends on whether you like a higher driving position. I do and I don’t move about on this cushion. Important to sit as far back in the seat as is possible.

The original thickness of this is 7.5--8.5cm, and the height after adding the weight of the human body is 3--5cm. Hope it helps you.

Q: Can this cause submarining in the event of a car crash?

Hi, this cushion is held in place by an elasticated strap around the back of the car seat. So any forward movement of the cushion would presumably depend on the strength of the strap and the force of the forward movement. I think only the manufacturer of the cushion could advise on the strength of the strap and its ability to prevent any forward movement.
