A great success!
I bought this for my grandsons to play with when they are visiting and it’s a great success, especially with the 7 year old. It’s a bit complicated for the 4 year old but he is enjoying watching the tracks his brother is creating and I’m sure he’ll grow into it.

Great as a logic puzzle, let down by pullback diggers that don't really work
As a puzzle, I really like the idea of Logical Road Builder. The principle of making a path from a start point to an end point using the three types of joining pieces (we called them ‘straights’, ‘curves’ and ‘bananas’) is easy enough, but once you get to the larger challenges where you have to use exactly the right combination of pieces- no more, no less- it’s a bit of a brain-teaser that kept me busy as a grown-up for a while too.The instructions are a little on the vague side at times, but to an extent, you can get away with making it up as you go along. If you want to take it in turns to place a piece, you can. If you want it to just be a race to see who can solve it first, you can do that. If you want people bumping into each other by crossing onto the other half of the board to be within the rules, it can be. It’s quite loose in that regard. There is an instruction book, but the actual instructions are quite thin on the ground, and the book is mostly full of challenge boards- instructions for where to lay out the target pieces, and which pieces you’re allowed to use to join them, with the solutions at the back of the book. The little digger toys, unfortunately, are a bit rubbish. I had hopes that it would be as good as Big Loader toys, but they’re nowhere near. The pull-back-and-go action is very weak, and rarely good enough to get the truck even halfway from its start point to the target point, so you end up pushing it manually. If the board is anything other than completely flat, then getting them halfway is a distant pipedream. The diggers and how well they work is a definite reason to take one star off the overall rating. As a side note, the little nodules on the board are Lego-compatible, for some reason, but it’s very difficult to understand why or how that would be useful. They don’t add anything to the game, or improve the grip of any of the pieces on the board. And the nodules are either buried by the movement pieces in the middle of the game, or redundant at the edge of the game (and at an awkward height too, making it difficult to join with any of the others). So any thought you might have of “ooh it’s a huge Lego base board too!” quickly fades away when you see it’s not really practical.I like the logic puzzle, and I think it would make a really good mini game to play on a mobile phone, if it isn’t already. But the pullback diggers don’t work well and that takes away from the overall experience.

Great item - lots of fun - sadly the instruction booklet was water damaged
The actual set is really good and my 9yo son has enjoyed challenging himself with making up his own games/solutions. I would say that that age range is too low on this game as it's actually quite challenging and the vehicles are quite tricky to wind up and set them on the starting plate.Unfortunately our game had perfect packaging, not even a dent but the instruction booklet was hugely water damaged, so much so that the pages were stuck together. This made it really difficult to do the puzzles given. The instructions for these puzzles aren't the easiest to understand and you might need to check the solutions for clues as to what to do, then decide your own rules. My son and I did enjoy the two player challenge though which was pretty hard on the 'hard' option.I do think the game is good value providing you don't get a damaged instruction booklet. The only option available through Amazon is to return the whole thing for a refund. If you purchase this, I would really suggest carefully opening the box and just checking everything is as it should be.

Problem solving - fun route finding
The media could not be loaded. Can you get the truck to deliver its load? This is a ‘hands-on’ set to challenge different ages and abilities. It sets increasingly more complex set ups to finding routes across the board. Whilst it is aimed at the younger end of the primary school aged children we have found that adults also like to have a go. The competitive challenges seem to attract them particularly! The board base is made up of 4 pieces which fits together easily. Alongside this are a number of varied pieces to place and plan different directions for the pathway to go. Two diggers with buckets that hold balls come with stickers to personalise. The manual gives instructions on the way to make the trucks work and as well as giving placements for ‘beginnings’ and ‘ends’, also showing possible solutions. It has parts that make it look like it might belong to Lego. It doesn’t, but if youngsters want to they could fix characters or pieces onto it.We found the trucks would complete an accurate route if it had been ‘wound back’ enough. There is an instruction to squeeze the sides to prevent it ‘unwinding’ but this wasn’t always easy. Nevertheless the truck could be placed at its starting point and taking one ball at a time would deliver to the end, where it is tipped out. There is a large enough bag included to keep all the bits together when not being used. This is a set which will keep offering challenges. It has all sorts of implications for developing spatial skills whilst being a fun activity. Lots to recommend it.

Fantastic educational toy
The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love this toy. It is educational and fun and can be played alone or with 2 players. Create a track and load the marbles into the bucket of the little truck and set it off along the track to deposit the ball in the pool. Loads of different tracks to build and no batteries needed as the trucks are pull back. It even comes with a bag to keep it in. Fantastic I love it as does my grandson.
